Monday 5th July 2021. 

Good morning Class One, for the next few days you will be spending time at home learning with your families. I will be setting you tasks each day and then ask your parents to send photos of your work so we can share them.

English.

Today we will be looking at adjectives. You need to try and write a adjective for each letter of the alphabet, for example; A-attractive, angry or awake.

*If you want a challenge you could then select a word and write a sentence containing this word.   

Maths.

Today we are going to continue to look at length. I want you to use a pen or pencil and find items around your home that are 'longer than' and 'shorter than' a pen or pencil. You can then put your items in two groups and take a photo or draw your items on two pieces of paper with the headings 'shorter than' and 'longer than'.

Science. 

Today we are going to look at sorting animals into three different groups; Herbivores, Omnivores and Carnivores.

First, watch the video below. Then, research by using Non fiction text books or the internet which animals belong in each group. Finally, draw and label three animals for each group on plain paper. 

Tuesday 6th July 2021.

Phonics. 

Read through the slides below and see if you can say each word. If you can say each word you could then try to spell each word when your grown-up says it.

English.

Following on from our work on animals on science and your wonderful adjective lists. Today I would like you to describe your favourite animal; It can be a pet, wild, zoo or farm animal. You should include what it looks like, how big it is, where it lives, what it likes to eat.

Don't forget to use a capital letter at the beginning of your sentences, sound your words out and spell words using your phonic sounds. Spell tricky words correctly, put a full stop at the end of your sentences and then read your work back to make sure it makes sense. 

I want to see lots of adjectives used too. Then draw or paint a picture to go with your written work. I can't wait to read them!

Maths.

Today in maths I have two tasks for you, I would like you to look around your home (and even your garden) and find items that are longer and shorter than you! Once you have found three or four items that are longer than you and three or four items that are shorter than you you can either take photographs, draw pictures of the items or write me two list.

We have been doing lots of work counting in 2's and 5's and 10s as part of our short maths lessons. I would like you to see if you answer this questions:

What is 5 groups of 2? 

What is 6 groups of 2?

What is 8 groups of 2?

What is 4 groups of 5?

what is 7 groups of 5?

what is 10 groups of 5?

What is 3 groups of 10?

What is 9 groups of 10?

* To help you you could write out the numbers counting in 2s to 20, 5's to 50 and 10s to 100.

Wednesday 7th July 2021.

Phonics.

Today I would like you to go over the sounds we have looked at this half term. First, look at the slides below and see if you can say each sound. Next, can you think of a word for each sound? If you manage that see if you can then spell the words correctly.

English.

In English today I would like you to take a look at the jumbled sentences below and see if you can rewrite the words in the correct order so they make sense.

Maths.

Today in Maths I would like you to talk through these two problem solving questions with your grown ups then write your response as a sentence. 

CHALLENGE.

Can you write all the number bonds to 10? There are 11 pairs of numbers that when you add them together make 10. for example 0+10= 10. Can you write the rest?

*If you manage that you could try finding all the number bonds to 20.There are 21 combinations!

Geography. 

Today in Geography, we are going to be locating The United Kingdom and the I want you to see if you can name the four countries that make up The United Kingdom. 

First, take a look at the world map below, can you find The United Kingdom?

Next, take a look at the map of Europe, can you find The United Kingdom?

Then, watch the clip below about the countries that make up The United Kingdom.

Finally, if you have a printer you can print the sheet I have attached below and colour in the countries using four different colours.

Phonics.

Today in phonics, I would like you to read the words on the slides below. Read each word then ask your grown up to select three or four words and see if you can put the selected word into a sentence.

English.

Today in English, I would like you to re-write the sentences below. Put the correct word either 'was' or 'were' in the blank space, to make each sentence make sense.

Maths.

In maths, today we are going to look at 'time' below are 4 clocks showing different times of the day. I would like you to read each clock and then draw a picture to show what you would be doing at that time of the day.

Today in PSHCE, I would like you to think about how to stay safe in the sun. Watch the clip below and then I would like you to design a poster to show how people should stay safe in the sunshine.

Phonics.

Today in Phonics, I would like you to practise reading real and non-sense words using the phonics play website. Click on the link below and choose one of the free games and select phase 5; revise all phase 5.   

English.

Today in English, I would like you to use the correct punctuation. First, you need to read through the slides below that explain when to use a full stop, a question mark or a exclamation mark. Next, rewrite the sentences below and add the correct punctuation. 

Maths.

Today in maths we are going to be looking at the weight of items. The weight of an item is how heavy something is and we measure this in grams (g) and Kilograms (Kg) .  I want you to look in your kitchen cupboards and fridge and find 5-10 items. Next, you need to try and order the items from the lightest item to the heaviest item. You can them either take a photograph or draw the items on paper.

CHALLENGE;

Add up the coins in each purse to find the totals.
