Good morning everyone and welcome to another week of fun learning activities!
I am so proud of you all for continuing to access your learning at home and have loved looking at your pictures and videos on Tapestry - keep sending them to me!
Phonics
For your phonics activity today I would like you to find lots of items around your house that make different noises or sounds. Do you have a box that you can decorate to keep them inside? Mrs Lisle's special sound box at Nursery has:
a toy car,
some building bricks,
an empty crisp packet,
a small plastic box with uncooked rice in,
some keys,
a cup (ceramic) and metal spoon,
some instruments.
You can sing the song, " Mrs Lisle has a box ee, ii, ee, ii, oh and in that box she has..." (to the tune of Old Macdonald had a farm)
Look at the items and listen to the sounds they make. With your grown ups, take it in turns to turn around away from the objects, listen to the sound and identify what it is if you're right you get a point! Keep a check on your total and see who the winner is!
Have fun!
Maths
This week in maths we are focusing on 1 less. Watch the Numberblocks episode 'Holes' and talk with your child about what is happening to each of the numbers - how many cubes fall into the hole and introduce the language 1 less than _ is _.
Challenge: Can you make towers of cubes 1-5, then 6-10, take off 1 cube and identify how many are left?
Topic
This week we are learning all about penguins! What do you know about penguins? Can you tell your grown ups? What would you like to know? Send me some questions and we can try and find out about them together. Do you have any books or stories about penguins?

Good morning everyone!
Thank you for all of your hard work yesterday and your super questions all about penguins!
Hopefully the videos today will help to answer some of them for you...
Have a great day
This week at Edinburgh Zoo is all about Penguin Fun. Check out the link below and watch the webcam of the penguins live at the zoo!
https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/penguin-cam/
Challenge: Can you tell Mrs Lisle how many penguins there are at Edinburgh Zoo? How many different kinds of penguins are there at Edinburgh zoo? What are the differences between them? Can you find out any names of the penguins?
Maths
For Maths today I want you to listen to the song 'Ten in the Bed'. Can you get 10 cuddly toys and act out the song and story saying the words " 1 less than _ is _".

Happy Wednesday my lovely Nursery boys and girls!
Here are your activities for today...
Phonics
Today we are looking at the sound 's'. For your job today can you draw Mrs Lisle some pictures of things beginning with 's' and practise writing the sound.
Maths
This is one of Mrs Lisle's favourite number songs! Can you join in with the words and actions? Can you count backwards from 10-0?
Challenge: Make a numberline, using number cards. Point to the numbers as you count backwards. Start with 5-0, then 10-0.
Topic
Today at Nursery we have started to make some penguin crafts! Some children wanted to practise their cutting skills so, Mrs Lisle found a penguin shape picture to cut out. You need to cut out the shapes, glue them together to make the penguin, then stick it onto the background to finish!
Have a look at the images below and see if you can get creative with some recycled materials and make your own penguin craft model! I would love to see the process of you making, so please send me some pictures of the things you make today!

Hi everyone!
This week at Nursery we have been learning all about penguins and to start your day off I would like you to do our 'Wake up, Shake up' called the Penguin Dance!
Check out the video below...
Phonics
For your phonics job today you will need lots of pictures or objects that have 3 sounds:
cup, bat, dog, hen, hat, pig, cat, pen, peg, map, leaf, sun, boat, bus, fish, sock, soap etc.
Lay them out on the table so your child can see them. Grown ups 'sound talk' a word of one of the pictures or objects, leaving a short pause in between each of the sounds in the word. Can your child correctly identify what the word you are trying to say is? Repeat sound talking together, making sure your child is saying the correct sounds then say the whole word.
The children in Nursery have found this job a little bit tricky this week, which is why it is so important for your children to hear 'sound talking' everyday, of these short words, so that they become more familiar to them. Encourage your child to copy you and say the sounds in the right order after correctly identifying the picture or object.
Maths
Watch the Numberblocks episode 9. Talk about the episode with your child about the shape of the number. Watch the powerpoint all about the Number 9, then look at the home challenges all about the number 9.

Phonics
For our phonics today we are going to be learning a new sound. Mrs Lisle would like you to draw some pictures of items that begin with the new sound and have a go at writing it. I would love to see your work!
