Although we have finished reading Mr Stink, his adventures continue. David Walliams and I would like you to come up with a story for 'Mr Stink's Next Adventure'. Will it involve Chloe and the rest of the Crumb family? Will it be a completely fresh story with new characters? The choice is yours! Consider this an extended piece of writing, as I would like you to go into as much detail as you can. Remember to include lots of descriptive language and adjectives to really engage the reader.
Science - Food Chains (1.03.21)
Hi Class 4,
I hope that you enjoyed researching different animals and their diets last week. This week, we are going to find out about food chains. I would like you to watch the BBC videos that I have linked to the page and then test your knowledge and understanding using the quiz and food chain games. Once you are confident with food chains, I would like you to think about your garden or the park and draw a possible food chain for this habitat. You will need to include some or all of the following vocabulary on your food chain:
Producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, predator, prey, herbivore, omnivore and carnivore.
I have included some examples of food chains to help you. There are also some cut and stick activities for you to try if you need more practise.
Enjoy your Science this week.

Extension Task - Something to think about.
Next week, when you return to school, we will be looking at food webs. I would like you to have a think about at the questions on the picture below, can you answer them?

I have some exciting news Class 4. David Walliams has been in touch and he wants to hear about your ideas for Mr Stink 2 (or was that just a dream?). I would like you to create a pitch for your story, about why your idea is the best. Your pitch should contain the following headings:
*Book Title
*Blurb
*Characters
*Setting
*Age group
Please ask an adult to send me in your pitches, as I am going to send the three best ideas to the publishing company behind Mr Stink (yes, really!). They may not reach David Walliams, but I am sure someone can give you feedback on your story from the publishers!

I would like you to create an alternative ending for the original Mr Stink story. What would you change about the ending? Does Mr Stink stay with the Crumb family? Does Chloe go wandering with him? The choice is yours. In your alternative ending, I want you to include the following language features:
*2 fronted adverbials
*1 embedded clause
*1 subordinate clause
*2 personal pronouns
*2 possessive pronouns
Reading
Today is World Book Day.
I would like you to read a chapter of a book at home. After you have done this, I would like you to talk about what happened with an adult or a sibling. As a challenge, are there any words you are unsure of? See if you can use the text to help you understand the meaning, in the context of the story.
If you follow this link to the World Book Day website, they are giving each child a £1 token to purchase a book. There are a few £1 books on offer, so you can get a book completely free! Ask an adult to fill in the form at the bottom of the page to register. You will then get the voucher emailed to you (it might go into your junk folder!).
https://www.worldbookday.com/digital-book-token/
Use the link below to find your closest book shop, where you can claim your free £1 book with your e-voucher. Booksellers such as Sainsbury’s and Asda, are unable to accept the voucher on a phone or tablet screen. It must be printed out for these two supermarkets.

Here is a comprehension I would like you to complete today as part of this year's World Book Day. All of the questions are retrieval questions, which means the answers are somewhere in the comprehension. Read the comprehension a couple of times and use the key words in the question to locate the answer.

Happy Thursday year 4!
Today we'll get back to our important question we asked that very first week of our new unit of work -
What kind of world did Jesus want?
Jesus gives us a clue for an answer using a parable in the Bible. An expert in the law had asked him a question, watch the video clip to find out what happened.
