Dear Year 6
I am very disappointed not to be able to teach you in the following weeks as there is definitely never a dull moment in our class! I will attempt to post something on this page every few days to keep you busy and entertained! How about we start off with this:
http://www.robbiddulph.com/draw-with-rob
I know we all like our 'how to draw' YouTube clips, so I thought you might enjoy this........
Happy drawing :)
Mrs W
As we have finished reading 'Pig Heart Boy' by Malorie Blackman, here is the link to the film. We might finish it tomorrow but if not or you want to re watch, here it is:
Ps Try the 'hot dog' art on the second video I posted - they are so cool! Maybe you could email me photos of your different designs and I could share them here? Daisy and I are going to try some asap......
I love taking photos and I know many of you have access to phones or tablets so how about we get creative and get some fresh air being out and about in your garden.
Hold a photographic scavenger hunt! Take photos of specific things, such as,
The hot dogs have started coming in! Not sure if Ewan has used a real sausage?!
The next three are by me, Daisy and my husband Andrew! I think mine is the best!
Hi all!
I hope you are all having fun at home :) Following on from the work we have been doing on hearts, I thought these phrases and sayings would be fun to look at. Have a look down the list and see if you can work out what each one means - maybe write a written explanation for each one. Remember to use accurate punctuation (semi-colons too ).
Headline on BBC website today:
Coronavirus: Air pollution and CO2 fall rapidly
Comments?! Maybe this could stop the 1.5 degree temperature rise and irreversible changes?
It's time to channel your inner Greta! My last piece of extended writing I was planning for you was for you to write a speech about climate change. It needs to be an extended piece structured with and introduction, paragraphs an a conclusion. Think about conjunctions, modal verbs, a range of punctuation and technical vocabulary. Also, remember data helps your argument!
I can't wait to read them!
Hi all
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend! Make sure you hve finished watching Pig Heart Boy and you've done some of the SATs papers.
Today, I would like you to let me know which books you are reading at the moment and wo you woulkd recommend them to.
Hope to hear from you soon
Mr W
I got the book 'Dumb Witness' by Agatha Christie for Anna (as we discovered a shared love of this author), I am pleased to report Beth has now finished it an sent me this book review:
DUMB WITNESS...
is yet another thrilling mystery from the bestselling Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie. When Emily Arundell has a fall, she is convinced that the reason wasn't her beloved dog's ball. As her relatives were staying, she senses attempted murder. Suspicious of the goings on, Emily writes a letter on the 17th April to the famous detective Hercule Poirot, but the letter was strangely recived on June 28th. Poirot and Hastings set off on their quest, only to reveal that Miss Arundell was dead. But was her death really a murder? The doctors are certain she died of old age and liver mishaps. With suspense and excitement on every page, this book is a struggle to put down. A mixture of fascinating description, nerve-racking plots and gripping mystery, this book well earns a rating of 6 stars out of 5.

Hi Class 6, Happy Monday!
I thought that you may want to continue to have fun with Science while you are at home so I'm adding some fun family Light Science Activities for you to try. I've not tried any of them yet, so I'd love you to tell me what you think about them and if you think younger children would be able to do these too. Maybe you could even send some photographs. Please remember the rules for staying safe when carrying out practical Science activities and make sure you get an adult to help you.
Have Science Fun!!
Mrs Marshall
Don't forget to keep your long multiplication and long division going:
345 divided by 12
876 divided by 65
678 divided by 28
987 divided by 56
Try to as many decimal places as you can.
456 x 56
877 x 98
343 x 77
938 x 99
Hi all,
Thank you Anna and Ella for pointing out that clue five doesn't work. Let's just say, you have to get down to two suspects after clue 4. Sorry everyone!
Hope you are all managing to fill your days; i'll post some more work to keep you busy soon. Don't forget to keep getting in touch, I love hearing from you.
Mrs W
I challenge you to have a go at some parabolic patterns, maths an art - great fun! Who knew you could make curves out of straight lines! Once you've mastered the technique, you can have fun mixing it up a bit and creating your own designs, i'd love to see some. I am going to try later.... Make sure you measure accurately and use a ruler!!
Happy Thursday Year 6! Missing you this afternoon. Mrs Cook here, just a reminder that this Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.
As we think about what happened that very first Easter, I thought it would be really lovely to share some ideas.
Thinking especially about Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, create scenes from these events. You could draw, paint, build Lego, craft, sculpt or any other creative way you can think of. (I know how good you lot are at this!)
I would love to see your creations too!
Stay Safe. I miss you all.
Happy Friday Class 6, Mr Quinn here! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying spending time with your families. Normally, we would still be working through our coding topic in Computing using Kodu Game Lab. However, you can still access Kodu at home for free by downloading it using the following link:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=10056
You won't be able to carry on with your worlds you created in school sadly (sorry!), however you now know how to create, design and program your coding world so it shouldn't take you that long at all. Continue adding in different game-play elements (battles, scoring systems, life-trackers) and keep experimenting with the different coding functions.
I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter and hope you get some delicious chocolate eggs. Email Class 4's account if you have any queries about Kodu, or if you want to share any work with me: [email protected] . I would love to hear from you all. Take care of yourselves and see you soon!
Mr. Quinn
I love a book recommendation! Joel borrowed Cog Heart from our class book collection and became hooked. He then bought and read the others in the series. Here is his review of the series.....
Hello Year 6!
I hope you've had a great Easter and the bunny got to your house (I was relieved to hear he had been granted key worker status).
Your next set of work is going to be to do with cars! Your task is to design and advertise a new car. I have added a video for inspiration but your car doesn't have the same type. Have a think about who you will aim your car at, will it be a family vehicle, an off road car or a limousine?
First of all start by designing the car itself. I will upload a template and some videos if you prefer drawing the car free hand. Have fun and remember to share them!
Good luck x
I am still interested to know what you are all reading at the moment. Here is a book review by Sofia.
Happy reading everyone!
The next part of your English work for this week is to design a poster to advertise your car - your poster must include text. Think about this poster also being included in magazines etc to advertise your new vehicle. You will need to make sure you know the make of your car and that you have given it a new and exciting name. Then possibly a slogan. There will need to be some persuasive sentences included on your advert to encourage the general public to consider purchasing your new vehicle. Remember, always keep the your intended audience in mind.......
Maths idea!
I had an idea that maybe you could produce a bar chart (easier) or a pie chart (hard and involves a protractor if you have one). These graphs could represent how you spent an average day in lockdown. We did learn how to draw pie charts earlier in the year.... Have a go; I might :)
